The Sun is out. But don't be fooled. It's still too cold to be outside safely without catching frostbite or some other cold-related ailment. Instead, John MacFarlane and Jeremy Morris offer you multiple possibilities for staying indoors this weekend. How are you going to get to these shows without going outside you ask? That we leave in your capable hands.

Tonight, Wednesday, indie gone mainstream but still kinda indie rockers Modest Mouse play Metropolis with Brooklyn's Love as Laughter and Philly's Man Man.

On Thursday, The Nymphets, The American Devices and Freelove Fenner bring varying genres of rock to Club Lambi (10pm, $7) while Drainolith, Brother Hongkong, Pax Nipponica shoegaze over at Zoobizarre ($5).

Friday night, check out the stripped down acoustics of Orillia Opry with Guelph's Tacoma Hellfarm Tragedy at Le Divan Orange or the dressed up electrics of Ottawa's Sick Fits with the Dirty Tricks and The Confusers at L'Escogriffe.

On Saturday, Toronto's capable collective Rock Plaza Central are at Main Hall as part of their U.S. CD Release tour. Opening are iheartmusic-approved Entire Cities and Wichita's Paper Airplanes($10). Down the street at Casa, CPC Gangbangs launch their 7" with less innuendo than I just provided. Many Mental Mistakes open (6$).

On Sunday verb or noun-named band Sue plays Casa with Missing Children. Meanwhile, the Green Room has Clothes That Make The Man and Percy Farm (7$).

Trans AM, Zombi and The Psychic Paramount want you to shake your ass on Tuesday at Sala (15$) while Dr. Dog want you to contemplate whether or not they are a hip hop act when they take the stage at Main Hall. The Royal Mountain Band opens.

Man Man rocked my World World. While folks throw down singing comparisons to Waits and Beefheart, the rhythms short-circuit right back to The Monks (the 60s garage band, not the Brittish 70s punk band).
Modest Mouse delivered, as usual, but Isaac Brock seemed less angry than normal.

Thanks thanks for the update. Did you catch Love as Laughter? If so, how were they? The track on the podcast is only the second or third I had heard of them, which is obviously a shame since they have 5 albums out.
