The Midnight Poutine Podcast- Mar. 18-24, 2010

Posted by Jer / March 18, 2010

20100318grimes.jpgThe attention of the music world is focused on Austin, Texas this week, but we stay true to what's happening here in Montreal. We talk about Indyish's Spring themed Monthly Mess, the Artists Against Apartheid showcase and generally try to ignore the fact that once again, we did not receive an all expenses paid trip to South by Southwest. Heck, we didn't even get asked to participate in Canadian Music Week. What the eff? Apparently we are not the music moguls we pass ourselves off as.

For those who want to get a hold of this year's SXSW showcasers :) I don't know if I should be posting this...

Jer, thought of you as I "happened upon" a Montreal showcase @ SXSW. (I live in Austin, and once infamously visited / reviewed PopMontreal2007 for this site.) This was Saturday afternoon, when, depleted of endurance and strategy, you just wander, looking at line lengths. I walked in on DUCHESS SAYS, none the wiser, and was blown away(!) Then stayed put for SUCKERS and PLANTS AND ANIMALS, the latter who I've loved since that fateful night at the Ukrainian Federation. This suddenly blustery afternoon, with barely abated hangovers and no free barbeque in sight, a tough crowd. Aw Jer, if you could've seen the way those Montrealers gutted it out and threw down.

@ben Hey man...good to hear from you. Every year when Pop MTL or SXSW roll around, I think about what you're up to. I'm glad you managed to sneak some MTL acts into your southby experience. And extra glad that they delivered.

@marrakis Yeah. The feed is busted. In fact, a lot of our RSS feeds on the site our busted, which is also why I don't find out I have comments on posts until weeks after the fact. It's annoying and inconvenient and we're trying to fix it, I promise. Sorry.
