In Their Own Words: Sick Friend
In their Own Words: the Montreal Sessions is a unique, in depth ten-part band profile series. The musicians featured share their experiences, inspirations, and aspirations in pursuit of their artistic vision.
Sadly, this week is the last show in this volume of the series. Martin Simon Greizis, the dedicated producer responsible for recording all these great profiles, promises me there will be a third volume, but details are scant at the moment. On behalf of everyone here at Midnight Poutine, we thank Martin for choosing to air his series on our site, and we look forward to the next batch of artists speaking in their own words. We say goodbye to volume 2 with this week's profile: Sick Friend.
Sick Friend is high school buddies Michael O' Brian and Jordy Kingsbury. Drawn to Montreal's by its vibrant music scene, their move marked the beginning of an exciting musical odyssey. It culminates in Soothsayings; the monumental first album by Sick Friend. Self-produced over a creatively intense one month period, it represents Michael and Jordy's musical coming of age. Recorded in a dingy claustrophobic jam space, Soothsayings is a sonic masterpiece.
In their own words: Sick Friend. Coming of age.
